This build is all about scaling initial hit while ignoring Duration, Ignite and AoE. Only fat Crits allowed.

Key to maximizing hit damage is to use Anomalous version of the skill (“First Impact deals 60% more Damage with Hits and Ailments“) combined with staff – which provides a lot of additional base fire damage.

And since we don’t care about “Maximum 3 Firestorms at a time” limit (thanks to gem effect) why not stick it on totems. In fact totems solve the issue of Firestorm’s high mana cost and allow for cast speed scaling without having to worry about running out of juice.

I decided to go with Ascendant with and ascendancies. provides pretty sizable dps gain and life leech from totems. for +1 totems and mana.

For defenses I went with:

  • Block ( alone provides 30+ Chance to Block).
  • Armour and for more EHP.
  • Fortify, which is easy to get with .
  • Endurance Charges from .
  • for totems.

All in all a pretty tanky build for a ranged caster.
